Hi there, I’m Mark

I am an experienced and highly qualified Cambridge scholar with Masters degrees from Oxford, London and Cambridge universities, with almost 40 years of quality teaching experience. I founded Ashtead Tutor in 2005.

Our Services

Ashtead Tutor is a locally run tutoring company, devised fifteen years ago by Mark Cheverton, our head tutor. Over the years, we have brought students from a grade they were not happy with to top marks, giving them confidence in their abilities. At Ashtead Tutor, we prioritise confidence, motivation and results.

Our tutors are a specialised team of individuals highly equipped to encourage the inner scholar of every individual, whether it be a much-needed confidence boost, or simply a little push over the edge from a good grade to the best of their ability. Our team comprises of Oxford and Cambridge University Scholars, PhD, MA, MSc, qualified teachers with many years teaching experience and graduates from prestigious universities including Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College London. However, our tutors are more than just their achievements. They are kind, patient individuals who not only strive for excellence in their pupils, but also for confidence and happiness both as students and as people.

Mark Cheverton

Head Tutor

Graduating from Cambridge, and later Oxford, Mark offers high-quality and effective private tutoring, specialising in English and Sciences;  Marks qualifications include a BA and MA in Natural Sciences at Cambridge, a MSc in Applied Plant Sciences at Imperial College London, an MA from Oxford where he studied Education, and Physics for teachers at the University of Surrey. Mark was inspired to start Ashtead Tutor through caring full-time for his own children; helping them learn was awe-inspiring and also introduced him to other children, some of whom found learning much harder. Mark started tutoring and became increasingly impassioned by the need for individualised education for the very varied needs of each child. Through Ashtead Tutor, Mark realises his wish to help children rekindle their joy for learning.
